A Nairobi-based advocate, Abshir Ahmedsadak Abdi, has been reported missing after suspected armed men allegedly abducted him along Muchai Road, off Ngong Road, in the early hours of November 1, 2026.
His family has now moved to the Milimani High Court, seeking urgent orders compelling security agencies to disclose his whereabouts and produce him before a judge within 24 hours.
According to court documents, Abdi was last seen at approximately 4am when unidentified individuals, reportedly armed and dressed in tactical military gear, forced him to kneel before bundling him into a black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado TX.
His white Toyota Premio, registration number KDL 356C, was later discovered abandoned at the scene and towed to Kilimani Police Station.
A missing person report was subsequently filed under Occurrence Book (OB) number 55/1/11/2026.
Family Files Habeas Corpus Application at Milimani High Court
Abdi’s brother, Zakaria Abshir, filed an urgent habeas corpus application seeking court intervention over the disappearance.
The application asks the court to compel relevant security agencies to produce Abdi within 24 hours and disclose whether any arrest warrant or detention order was issued against him.
In his supporting affidavit, Zakaria said witnesses had informed investigators that Abdi’s vehicle was being pursued by two vehicles: a black Prado TX and a black double-cabin vehicle.
The white Premio reportedly veered into a ditch before armed individuals allegedly pulled its occupant out and forced him into the Land Cruiser.
In his affidavit, Zakaria stated:
“The members of the public further informed the investigating officer that they saw the armed individuals arrest the occupant of the white motor vehicle and forcefully drag him into the Land Cruiser TX.”
Abdi’s mobile phones have remained switched off since the incident, with his family still unaware of his whereabouts.
Missing Nairobi Lawyer Had Reportedly Received Death Threats
The court papers also raised concerns about possible links between Abdi’s disappearance and an ongoing criminal case at the Makadara Law Courts, where he is listed as a witness.
According to his brother, Abdi had previously received threats allegedly from security officers warning him to withdraw from the case.
The threats reportedly included warnings that he could be abducted or killed if he continued participating in the matter.
However, the motive behind the November 1 incident has not been established, and the alleged connection to the court case remains unconfirmed.
Abdi Was Previously Arrested in October 2025
The application further revealed that Abdi had previously been arrested on October 9, 2025.
According to the court documents, he was released unconditionally after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) declined to approve an application seeking custodial orders.
His brother also claimed that complaints were subsequently submitted to senior security officials over the alleged threats, but no action was taken.
The family is now seeking judicial intervention to establish whether Abdi is being held by any security agency and to secure information about his whereabouts.
The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unclear.
