Kang’ata Explains Uhuru Kenyatta’s Role in Linda Mwananchi Movement Political Movements
Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata has dismissed claims that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is financially sponsoring emerging political movements, insisting that his involvement is limited to offering moral support.
Speaking during a television interview on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, Kang’ata was asked about Uhuru’s alleged influence in emerging political formations, with critics frequently portraying the former Head of State as a financial backer.
Kang’ata maintained that Uhuru’s contribution was limited to encouragement rather than financial assistance.
“Moral support, but nothing more,” he responded.
When pressed on whether the former President provides money to political movements, the governor categorically denied the claims.
Asked directly whether Uhuru makes any financial contributions, Kang’ata answered: “No.”
Kang’ata Says Linda Mwananchi Movement Does Not Need Money
The Murang’a governor further argued that the movement did not depend on financial sponsorship to advance its agenda.
“You people have enough of your money. What I know is that this is a movement that needs no money,” he said.
Kang’ata maintained that the political formation was driven by issues rather than financial contributions from influential individuals.
“This is a movement about issues,” he added.
His remarks come amid growing public debate about the political figures and financial interests allegedly supporting emerging opposition movements.
Caleb Amisi Dismisses Claims Linking Uhuru to Linda Mwananchi
Kang’ata’s comments echo earlier remarks by Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, who dismissed claims associating Uhuru Kenyatta with the Linda Mwananchi movement.
Amisi maintained that the movement was not affiliated with the former President and had previously identified himself as its founder.
His remarks sought to distance the political formation from claims that it was operating under Uhuru’s influence.
Majimbo Kalasinga Explains How Linda Mwananchi Is Funded
Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga has also rejected suggestions that Linda Mwananchi depends on wealthy political sponsors to finance its activities.
Kalasinga said the movement’s activities were supported through contributions from its members and supporters rather than external political financiers.
The statements by the three politicians come as questions continue to emerge over the leadership, funding and political direction of Linda Mwananchi.
