Kalonzo Musyoka Lands in London Ahead of Major Chatham House Address
Wiper Patriotic Front big cheese Kalonzo Musyoka has flown in to London for some high level talks all about Kenya’s economic partnerships, where to get the best investment opportunities, and just what the opposition plans to do come the August 10, 2027 General Election.
Kalonzo touched down in the UK on a Monday – October 12, 2026, to be exact, and checked out an evening do at the House of Commons, where he was the guest of honour.
According to his party, the whole point of this trip is to get Kenya, the UK and the wider East Africa region to work better together economically.
Now ex-Vice President Kalonzo has also got a keynote speech lined up at Chatham House, where he’s supposed to set out the opposition’s plans and priorities as Kenya starts getting ready for the next general election.
Kalonzo Attends House of Commons Reception
So Kalonzo put in an appearance at a reception hosted by the Westminster Africa Business Group in partnership with the Eastern Africa Association.
The event was hosted by Tory MP Sir Gavin Williamson, the guy who chairs the Westminster Africa Business Group.
It was all under the banner “Kenya as a Regional Financial Hub and the Future of East African Capital Markets,” and basically a bunch of people who are interested in Kenya’s economic prospects and its relationship with international investors – all chatted about Kenya’s position as a centre of finance, and how to get African cash flowing into development and how to get Kenya and the rest of the world to trade and invest more in each other.
It was also an opportunity for the smart folks in the room to swap ideas about how stronger economic ties could help investment and development ramp up across East Africa.
Kalonzo to Outline Opposition Agenda at Chatham House
On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, Kalonzo has got a keynote speech lined up at Chatham House, that London based think tank that’s all about international affairs.
His speech, which is called “The Opposition’s Outlook and Policy Agenda on the Road to 10 August 2027,” is going to set out his thoughts on where Kenya is headed and what he thinks the opposition should be trying to achieve in the run up to the August 2027 General Election.
It’s all part of the growing noise around the August 2027 General Election, where policy proposals, governance and where Kenya is headed in the long term – are all going to be hot topics.
For Kalonzo this is a chance to put the opposition’s plans across to an international audience.
This speach comes on the back of the House of Commons reception, which was all about economic co-op, investment and Kenya’s role in East African financial markets.
Kalonzo’s London Visit Targets Trade and Investment
Says the Wiper Patriotic Front in a statement unveiling the trip, the whole point is to give Kenya’s economic relationships a bit of a boost with international partners.
The party says that the trip will basically be about finding new ways to bring in investment & growing Kenya’s market share across the East African region.
“Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) and The Ukombozi Alliance (TUA) Party Leader, H.E. Dr Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, EGH, SC – he’s just landed in London, and for the next little while he’ll be criss-crossing the city building economic partnerships and pushing for investment to come into Kenya and the wider East African region,” the statement reads.
This trip is all about getting the right balance between economic diplomacy & good old-fashioned politics, and the party is keen to stress how important international partnerships are in making Kenya’s economic hopes a reality.
The chat about capital markets & investment is also sort of a reflection of what’s going on in East Africa right now, lots of countries are struggling to find the funds to fix their infrastructure, or to grow their businesses, to meet their development goals.
Kalonzo’s Engagements Come Ahead of the 2027 General Election
Kalonzo’s got a packed schedule in London and it just so happens he’s going to be making a speech at Chatham House all about what the opposition plans to do in the next 5 years & what the opposition’s policy priorities will be, so that’ll give him a chance to tell the international community what’s what.
The timing’s interesting too, it’s just over a year before Kenya’s scheduled August 10, 2027 General Election, and all the leaders & parties are busy pushing out their vision for the country’s future.
The party is selling this trip as a chance for Kalonzo to go out there & show the world what Kenya is all about, from an economic point of view & from the point of view of the opposition’s policy plans.
But we’ll have to wait & see exactly what Kalonzo has to say at Chatham House before we know the details.
