Former Chief Justice David Maraga Mourns The Loss Of His Beloved Sister Sabina Kemunto Otiambo
Former Chief Justice David Maraga has just made the sad announcement that his sister, Sabina Kemunto Otiambo, has passed away at an incredible 107 years of age.
Maraga shared the news on Tuesday, October 6th, with a heartfelt tribute to his sister as a loving mother, sister, granny & great-granny whose life story is a remarkable one that’s spanned a whole century.
The family have now got a date set for her Funeral service and burial which will take place on Friday, October 9th at their Home in Nyairobi Village, Kipkelion, Kericho County.
David Maraga Announces Sister’s Death at 107
Maraga announced Sabina’s passing on his X account describing her as the kind of woman whose life has left an indelible mark on several generations of the family.
Not forgetting that Sabina was the wife of the Late Raphael Otiambo Nyangena.
“Its with heavy hearts and also loads of gratitude for a life so richly lived, that we share the news of the passing of our Mum, sister, granny, great-granny, Mrs Sabina Kemunto Otiambo,” Maraga said.
Her passing has brought together the family to celebrate a life that lasted an amazing 107 years.
Sabina Kemunto Otiambo Leaves Behind Six Children
Sadly Sabina is left behind by six kids – Grace Moraa Ochoi, David Nyangau, Simon Monari, Eunice Kemuma, Job Miranga and Florence Nyanchama.
Sadly, she also lost two of her boys, Peterson Nyambane & Kamanda before she did.
Family wise, she has 53 grand kids and great grand kids which just goes to show the impact she had on the next few generations.
Maraga really described his late sister as a heartbeat of the family always there for those around her and a rock of strength to lean on.
Maraga Describes Sister as a Pillar of Strength
In his heartfelt tribute, Maraga remembered Sabina as ‘a rock and a pillar of strength’, a ‘truly special matriarch that defied time and lived a remarkable 107 years.’
He also gave a big thanks to the people who offered their prayers and love and support to the family after her passing it really helped us get through a tough time.
‘”Thanks so much to all of you for the love, prayers and support our family is still reeling from the loss of a true matriarch who lived an astonishing 107 years” he added.
Sabina left behind her brother James Ochengo, but there are also a bunch of siblings that have come before her Onduko, Ongondi, Barake, Nyanduko, Okongo and Kemuma are gone.
When and Where Will Sabina Otiambo Be Buried?
The family is letting everyone know that Sabina’s funeral service and burial will go ahead on Friday the 9th of October at the family home in Nyairobi Village in Kipkelion, Kericho County the interment will happen right after the service.
It’s the final goodbye for a family matriarch whose life was long enough to span over a century and several generations of her family.
