Power Blackout Alert: KPLC Names 8 Counties Set to Lose Electricity on Wednesday
Kenya Power has announced power cuts are scheduled for eight counties on Wednesday, 7 Oct – and its those counties of Nairobi, Trans Nzoia, Kisumu, Nyeri, Murang’a, Embu, Kitui and Garissa that will be affected.
Theyre going to be carrying out some planned KPLC power blackouts & these will hit homes, businesses & institutions in loads of locations. Most of the power cuts are going to be between 9am and 5pm.
People in these areas have been told to get their ducks in a row before the power goes off.
Nairobi Power Blackouts on Wednesday
In Nairobi, some of the Runda crowd will be losing power from 9am to 5pm.
So the areas affected in Runda include Runda Drive, Mimosa Rd, Mimosa Vale, Runda Vale, Runda Park & Ruaka Groove – and then theres the ones just next door.
Also, part of Kamae will see a power cut at the same time.
The places that will be losing power in Kamae are Imela Homes, Tapaz Lounge, 277 Lounge & Saa Mbaya – and then theres the ones living just around the corner.
Trans Nzoia Power Interruption Areas
In Trans Nzoia county, Kenya Power has got some extra work to do & thats cutting the power to Aturukan, Kibomet, Mwaita, Perekera and Tuigoin from 9am to 5pm.
The areas theyll be working on include Aturukan HT, Mt Elgot Dairies, Sinendet Centre, Kibomet Primary School, Bishop Yego, Sirwo Resort, Mwaita Primary School, Tuigoin Centre, Kiptenden, Kuriot, Parkera & Murgoiyo.
Kisumu Power Blackout Areas
In Kisumu county its the Daraja Mbili Market folk who will be in the dark from 9am to 5pm.
The areas affected by the power cut include Daraja Mbili Market, Koyango Market, Daraja Mbili Village, part of Manyatta B & the ones living just next door.
Residents & businesses in the areas that will be losing electricity have been told to sort out their alternative arrangements while the power is out.
Nyeri Power Blackouts
Nyeri County is going without power on Wednesday – and it’s not a surprise. There are going to be two power blackouts scheduled for the day.
Customers around Mathari Hospital and Outspan Medical College should get ready for an outage from 9am to 5pm. Yeah, it’s a long one.
Affected areas in this first blackout will include Mathari Shopping Centre, VOK Booster 1, Kagongo Village, Caritas, Transformer Area, Chania Rwamba and a bunch of other places, including Mathari Hospital and Outspan Medical College.
Later in the day, another batch of customers around Ihwagi and Ragati Tea Factory will experience a blackout from 8am to 5pm.
And those people in this one will be affected by the outage, including Ihwagi Market, Ihwagi C/Factory, Ihwagi Secondary School, Gathehu Village, Gatondo Secondary School, Kariki TBC, Kiawaiguru TBC, Gitema-Ini TBC, Itundu Market, Kangiri TBC, Gachugu-Ini TBC, etc, etc.
But wait, it gets even better (or worse, depending how you look at it) – the outage will also be affecting a bunch of other places like Giakaibei Secondary School, Ndumanu Village, Kanjuri High School, Kanjuri Market and of course – the Ragati Tea Factory.
Murang’a Power Outage Areas
In Murang’a County, Kihumbuini and Mukurwe are in for a power outage that will last from 9am to 5pm.
The affected locations here will be Mukurwe, Njaini, Kihumbuini Market, Mukurwe Primary School and Githima Market and I guess all the folks who live nearby as well.
Embu Power Blackout Areas
In Embu County, a batch of customers in Karurumo, Ishiara and Kanyuambora are going without power from 8:30am to 5pm.
A whole list of places will be affected in this blackout – Kamumu, Soko, Karerema, Gwakaithi Primary School, Karigiri Primary School, Murari Village, Kavengero, Canon Habert, Kabubua, Mugwanjogu, Kirigo Secondary School, Ngoce, Ciangera and Munthathara and some other places. And of course, the people who live near these places.
Kitui Power Interruption Areas
In Kitui County, a bunch of customers around Maliku Market, Kavisuni Market, Kanyangi Market and Kanyongonyo should be prepared for a power blackout from 9am to 5pm.
So the areas that will be affected in this one are Maliku Market, Kavisuni, Mandongoi Secondary School, Kanyangi Market, Kanyangi Secondary School, Zambia Water Supply and Kanyongonyo Market – and all the nearby areas.
Garissa Power Blackout Areas
In Garissa County, a power blackout is scheduled to run from 9am to 5pm.
And unfortunately, it will be affecting a whole bunch of people, including Sumeya, 17KR Modika and Maua Millers and all the other places listed – including Maua Millers, Modika CAK, 17KR, Sumeya, Quba, Bulla Hagar, Duale Farm and a bunch of other areas.
Residents and businesses in all these places – or at least, those near these places – will want to prepare for the power blackout and plan accordingly. They probably want to stock up on candles and all that.
