Sifuna’s Big 2027 Move: Senator Set to Reveal Party Backing Presidential Bid
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is Getting Ready To Launch The Political Party He Plans to Lead with in 2027 & It’s Big News For His Supporters
Nairobi senator & top man in the Linda Mwananchi movement Edwin Sifuna is set to finally reveal the political party he intends to run with in the 2027 presidential contest, with the movement moving to turn itself into a full on political outfit before the General Election.
Expect Sifuna to make the big announcement on Sunday, 4th of October 2026, at a swanky Nairobi hotel where lots of leaders & supporters & his crew that have been rallying behind the movement have all converged.
The announcement comes hot on the heels of the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) giving a thumbs up to the Linda Mwananchi Movement name after a recent ruling by the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT).
Sifuna’s Big Reveal Will Finally Give Clarity On His 2027 Presidential Bid Plans
Sifuna’s announcement on Sunday should give everyone a good idea of the political vehicle he & his pals will be using to pursue his presidential ambitions in 2027.
Loads of leaders who are in the Linda Mwananchi camp have already gathered at the hotel ahead of the event, while the youngbloods out the front are all keenly awaiting Sifuna’s arrival like a big deal.
The unveiling has been a long time coming & comes after weeks of back & forth over which party Sifuna would actually use to chase his 2027 dream.
Rumours had been going around that his crew had been toying with the idea of joining an established party, but Sifuna is now ready to lay the cards on the table & show us all what he’s working with.
Linda Mwananchi Movement Scores Major Victory
Linda Mwananchi Movement has just got a major win in the ongoing battle to become a registered political party.
Registrar of Political Parties John Lorionkou confirmed in a letter dated the 1st of October that the name had been cleared after the PPDT ordered his office to reserve it for 7 days.
The reservation is valid for 3 months which should give the team some breathing room to complete the rest of the registration process – they still need to get the provisional & final registrations done.
The PPDT had previously ruled in Linda Mwananchi’s favour, overturning the registrar’s decision to reject the name – now the movement is a step closer to getting the full party registration.
But it’s worth noting that just because they got the name cleared, it doesnt mean they’re fully registered yet – they still have to tick all the right boxes.
Sifuna Thumps Fist & Says “Wametii”
Sifuna broke out the champagne (or maybe just shared a pic of the approval letter on social media) with “wametii” as his caption
It’s been months now since the uncertainty started surrounding the movement’s political identity & now that the name is cleared Sifuna & his crew can keep pushing forward with establishing their own party.
Of course, the registration process still has to happen but now at least they have a clear plan in place
Khalwale Makes Big Move towards Sifuna’s Party
Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale is now seriously considering putting his own plans on ice and getting behind Sifuna, whoever he chooses to back – whether that’s a new party or an existing one.
Khalwale made it clear : if Sifuna goes for a different party, he’s willing to toss his United Patriotic Movement (UPM) into the mix and run for Kakamega Governor on Sifuna’s ticket instead.
“Dr Boni Khalwale just said he’s willing to kick UPM to the curb so he can fully support Edwin Sifuna for president and run for Kakamega Governor on his party,” he said.
That announcement has really put a spotlight on the party that Sifuna is planning to unveil, and who might be looking to run under its banner.
Sifuna’s Party Options – Which Way Will He go?
Before getting the thumbs up for the Linda Mwananchi name, Sifuna and his team had considered using a party that was already registered.
UPM, which is associated with Khalwale, was one of the existing parties they had looked at. And now Khalwale is saying that UPM will back Sifuna’s presidential ambitions either way.
Other parties had also been floated as possibilities. But with the Linda Mwananchi name now available, Sifuna’s team can either start a new party from scratch or take over and rebrand an existing one.
What happens after Sifuna Unveils his Party?
Getting the party unveiled is the first step, but there’s a lot more work to be done.
The Linda Mwananchi name is on hold for 90 days now (that’s how long it takes to sort everything out) and in that time, Sifuna’s team will have to get the party fully registered and get all the necessary organisational structures in place.
They’ll also have to meet the rules and regulations for a political party and be in place in time for the 2027 election.
It’ll be a closely watched process, as Sifuna and his team try to turn the momentum they have into an actual winning party.
Sifuna’s Party and the 2027 Election
Sifuna’s choice of party is a big deal, given how all the opposition leaders and parties are positioning themselves right now ahead of the 2027 election.
Sifuna is probably one of the bigger names in Linda Mwananchi, along with the likes of Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Khalwale.
If Sifuna’s party gets going, it might also be a big player in the discussions about any alliances or cooperation between opposition groups.
But at this stage, the most important thing is figuring out which party Sifuna will unveil, and how he’s going to turn it into a fully-functional party in time for the election.
