17 People Seriously Injured in Migaa Bus Crash
Word is that the accident happened at Migaa on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway, a pretty busy route, in the small hours of Sunday around 12:30 am.
At least 17 of the people on the bus have been left with serious injuries although not much has been said yet about who they are or exactly how badly hurt they are.
And to be fair, not much is known at this stage about the circumstances behind the accident.
Bus Carrying Mourners From Kisumu Involved in Crash
The bus involved was apparently carrying people travelling from Kisumu for a funeral.
The smash triggered a full on emergency response as rescuers rushed to help the passengers and get anyone still trapped out of the wreckage.
It’s a worrying reminder I suppose that road safety can be a major issue on the big highways especially when you’re driving at night, visibility can be a real problem and so can driver fatigue
But to be honest we still dont know what exactly caused this particular crash.
Kenya Red Cross Leads Emergency Rescue Operation
The Kenya Red Cross Society in Nakuru coordinated a joint rescue effort with the local police and Molo ambulance teams, along with loads of well meaning locals who turned up to help out.
Between them they managed to get to the injured and get some of them out of the wreckage, though there was one poor soul who was stuck for more than an hour.
Trapped Victim Rescued After More Than an Hour
The Kenya Red Cross is confirming that one of the people trapped in the wreckage has finally been pulled out to safety.
“One casualty safe and sound after a nightmare hour and a bit of being stuck in the wreckage,” the organisation casually dropped in a social media update.
The drama unfolded as part of the emergency response to that pretty nasty crash which left at least 17 people with some pretty serious injuries.
We don’t got the full lowdown on the injured passengers just yet and wont be getting any immediate details on how they are doing in hospital.
Traffic Resumes Along Nakuru-Eldoret Highway
The whole ordeal caused some major hold ups along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway, it was total chaos after the accident and the rescue operation.
But thankfully the Kenya Red Cross just let us know that emergency services have wrapped up their rescue work and traffic is now flowing freely again.
“Normal service resumed,” KRCS basically said, they even threw in a little comment about traffic flowing once again.
So any motorists out there who have been driving along that route don’t need to worry, all is good.
Kenya Red Cross Urges Motorists to Observe Road Safety
After the accident the Kenya Red Cross just sent out a big reminder to motorists to keep their wits about them and follow the road safety rules.
Just a few tips from the experts, try not to drive too fast, avoid getting behind the wheel when you are tired, keep a safe distance from the car in front and stay alert throughout the whole journey.
And if you are driving at night make sure your vehicle is roadworthy and adjust your driving to suit the road conditions and how well you can see.
