ODM Announces Major Nairobi Rally at Jacaranda Grounds as 2027 Race Intensifies

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is about to host a sizeable rally at the Jacaranda Grounds in Embakasi East, Nairobi, on Saturday, October 31st 2026 – and they’re really stepping up their game ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor, better known as Jalang’o, spilled the beans about the upcoming shindig in a social media post on October 17th, sharing a neat little flyer that the party had put together to announce the rally.

“Habari ndio hio!! 31st Jacaranda!! ODM rules in Nairobi!” Jalang’o wrote next to the gotcha graphic he posted.

The big call sets the stage for what promises to be a major party bash at a venue which has been centre stage in Nairobi’s opposition politics – chiefly, thanks to a rally held by the Linda Mwananchi movement not so long back.

Jalang’o Announces ODM Rally at Jacaranda Grounds

Jalang’o confirmed the October 31st bash on his social media account, breaking out the ODM graphic to invite fans to the party.

One of the highlights of the gathering is going to be bringing ODM leaders, elected reps & supporters from all corners of Nairobi together – all to give the party a taste of its grassroots strength in the city.

The timing is interesting, too – with all the main political outfits & movements getting busy ahead of the 2027 General Election.

While ODM has mentioned the date and venue, the party has yet to run through the full list of politicians who are expected to take to the stage.

Why ODM Has Chosen Jacaranda Grounds for Its Rally

Jacaranda Grounds in Embakasi East has got some pretty interesting connections in the world of Nairobi politics & the ODM’s decision to have their rally there is a deliberate one.

On September 13th 2026, the same grounds hosted a rally under the Linda Mwananchi banner, which just so happened to bring out the big names, including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino & Siaya Governor James Orengo.

It was one heck of a turnout, with loads of people showing up to voice their concerns on inflation, government policies & the direction the country’s heading.

Now, with the ODM rally on October 31st, the party will be front & centre in the area, which has become a major hotspot for all things politics in Nairobi.

The event will probably also be a chance for ODM to showcase its support in the city, where different political outfits are all vying for attention ahead of the next general election.

ODM Steps Up Mobilisation Across Nairobi

ODM leaders are reportedly in high gear – mobilizing supporters left and right across Nairobi’s 17 constituencies ahead of the Jacaranda rally.

The mobilization drive has all the key players involved, regional MPs and party officials are working to build up local teams and get as many supporters as they can to attend the big get-together.

This big event is part of a broader push by ODM to get its house in order and maintain its grip on power in the capital. & and it’s coming at a critical time – with voting looming in 2027.

Nairobi is a key battleground because of its massive electorate and influence on how national politics plays out.

The October 31st event is therefore going to be big news for anyone following ODM’s mobilization strategy, with supporters and political watchers alike eager to see what the party’s got cooking.

ODM Leadership Faces Pressure Ahead of 2027 Elections

Now this comes as ODM is still trying to work through some pretty deep internal divisions and get ready for the 2027 General Election, all under the leadership of Oburu Odinga.

Party leaders are working round the clock to get their organizational house in order and make sure their political strategy is on track because the stakes are getting higher with every passing day as competition for voter support heats up.

The Jacaranda rally could give the party a big opportunity to show some unity and demonstrate its ability to get out the vote in Nairobi.

But the bottom line is the event’s broader impact depends on who shows up, what the leaders say and how well ODM engages with voters afterwards.

ODM Leaders Expected at Jacaranda Rally

The official speaker lineup hasn’t been made public yet but several big names are in the mix to appear at the event.

Some of the party’s top figures – including National Chair Gladys Wanga, Deputy Party Leaders Abdulswamad Nassir and Simba Arati and Acting Secretary General Catherine Omanyo and Deputy Secretary General Agnes Zani, could make an appearance.

And there are a whole bunch of other senior party leaders in the running too – including Junet Mohammed and Cabinet Secretaries Hassan Joho and John Mbadi.

While their attendance hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, the final lineup will determine who steps up to the mic and addresses the crowd.

The event is basically going to provide a platform for ODM leaders to lay out the party’s priorities and get the troops fired up, with the 2027 elections looming.

What the Jacaranda Rally Could Mean for Nairobi Politics

The ODM rally comes at a time when several other players are trying to strengthen their hand in Nairobi.

We’ve already seen the Linda Mwananchi gathering in September show how important this venue is as a space for political mobilization and ODM’s big event could give us another idea of how the different players are positioning themselves in the capital.

For ODM, this is a chance to reconnect with supporters, refortify its local structures and show some organizational clout.

But ultimately whether this translates into real voter support will only become clear as the party keeps putting more and more effort into mobilizing supporters in the months leading up to the 2027 General Election.
