High Court Cancels Waititu’s Bond, Delivers Fresh Ruling in Graft Case
The High Court has done an about face and pulled the rug out from under former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and his mate Luka Mwangi Wahinya , who were granted bail in a graft case to the tune of a whopping KSh588,749,000.
Last night – Wednesday, October 14 2026 – Judge Rose Ougo had a rather firm word with Waititu and Wahinya , ordering them to be hauled off to Nairobi Remand Prison after she cancelled their bail terms.
It all adds up to a fresh twist in the high-profile corruption case that’s still very much playing out with the former Kiambu governor and his co-defendant at its centre.
High Court Cancels Waititu’s Bond Terms
Milimani Anti-Corruption High Court judges have done a complete u-turn on bail terms previously granted to Waititu and Wahinya , in a case that’s supposed to be all about the alleged theft of KSh588,749,000 in public funds.
In her no nonsense ruling, Justice Rose Ougo made it clear that the two have got to be held at Nairobi Remand Prison.
It all means that the terms on which Waititu and his co-defendant were released on bail in the first place are no longer valid, and proceedings in the case will be continuing – now with him behind bars.
Waititu and Co-Convict Ordered to Nairobi Remand Prison
After the court had made its decision, Waititu and Wahinya were ordered to be carted off to Nairobi Remand Prison – although that order came with the cancellation of their bail terms too – the next step in all of this is still to be seen.
The reasons why the judges cancelled the bail terms – outside of saying that they had – just didn’t make it into the initial report.
What Is the KSh588 Million Graft Case Involving Waititu?
Waititu – the man who used to be the governor of Kiambu – is at the centre of a big time corruption case that involves public money.
The latest ruling has to do with the bail terms granted to Waititu and Wahinya in a case that’s all about the theft of KSh588,749,000.
The bail having been cancelled is a big deal – it’s a separate thing from the case itself and the details are likely to be revealed in due course.
