“You Have No Capacity!” – Gachagua Clashes with Chamgei FM Journalist After Asking if He’s Bitter with Ruto

The phrase Rigathi Gachagua clashes with journalist quickly began trending after a fiery media exchange in the Rift Valley drew national attention.

Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua found himself under intense questioning during a press engagement when a journalist bluntly asked whether he was bitter following his political fallout with President William Ruto.

The confrontation unfolded when Cheruto Rop, a reporter attached to Chamgei FM under Royal Media Services, directly challenged the former DP over his recent remarks targeting senior government officials.

The Question That Sparked the Clash

The exchange escalated after the journalist asked him plainly whether he was vindictive following his acrimonious falling out with Ruto.

“Mheshimiwa Rigathi, are you bitter?” she posed blutantly.

The question appeared to catch Gachagua off guard. He quickly dismissed the suggestion, insisting that his criticism of the current administration was not driven by personal anger.

“You Have No Capacity to Determine Whether I’m Bitter”

The tension heightened when Cheruto pointed to two controversial incidents — an audio recording Gachagua had played and remarks he made about access to State House.

“Are you bitter with him because kuna incidences mbili. Ya kwanza ni hii umecheza this audio which we apologise on behalf of these people because kwetu this is unprofessional. Ya pili you said kama basi state house inafunguliwa watu kuja wakule basi wakalenjin pia wakuje wakule; how does two wrongs make a right? Because you are supposed to come out as a better option kwa sababu umekosoa rais,” she posed.

Gachagua interrupted firmly, rejecting her attempt to label him resentful.

“Why are yo deciding for me that I’m bitter? You cannot decide for me. I’ve not said that I’m bitter; you’ve no capacity madam. You have no capacity to determine whether I’m bitter or not. I’ve said Kenyans are very bitter people because they were conned and deceived,” he stated.

The former deputy president, who now leads the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), maintained that his remarks reflect public frustration rather than personal grievances.

The Oscar Sudi Audio Controversy

The heated discussion came shortly after Gachagua played an audio recording during the same meeting. He claimed the recording featured remarks made by Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi that allegedly contained insults directed at him.

According to Gachagua, the recording demonstrated that some leaders allied to Ruto were openly attacking him.

He argued that the issue reflected a broader pattern of conduct among certain government-aligned politicians.

The former DP went further, mentioning Farouk Kibet and accusing him of previously using harsh language against former president Uhuru Kenyatta.

Political Undertones Behind the Rift Valley Exchange

The clash underscores the widening rift between Gachagua and his former political allies.

As political temperatures continue rising, such confrontations signal deeper tensions within Kenya’s leadership landscape.

Observers note that media engagements involving Gachagua have increasingly become arenas for defending his position and reshaping his political identity.

Whether the exchange will further polarize opinion remains to be seen — but one thing is clear: the Rift Valley confrontation has reignited debate about loyalty, criticism, and leadership style in Kenya’s political arena.
