A 38-year-old woman was killed after being gang raped on Thursday evening, and her body was dumped on a corn plantation near the Tembwo shopping center in Sotik, Bomet district.

According to Sothik Police Chief Francis Nganga, she may have been raped before being strangled by her abductors as there were no injuries on her body.

Local residents identified the deceased mother of four, who worked as a temporary worker in the Tembwo shopping center.

She was last seen with an unknown man.

Tembwo facility manager Safina Cheruiyot said some of the food she brought, including a piece of meat, a tomato and some money, was intact and packed in a large bag.

DCI officers from the Chefilat Police Department arrived at the scene and took the body to the mortuary of the Kapkatet hospital.
