The Kenya Union Of Post Primary Education Teachers KUPPET has taken the initiative to gather information on teachers who have have stagnated in same joke group for long.
In a letter dated 7th January and signed by KUPPET boss Hon Akelo Misori which was seen by the Nairobi Independent, it details that as per the advertisement on vacancies for promotions in December 2022, the Teachers Service Commission TSC has finally acknowledged the crisis of stagnation among teachers.
It further note that, however, the advertisements were for limited positions, mainly those of responsibility which implies that thousands of teachers would still be left out in the promotions.
This, according to the report, is happening against the Commission’s own Regulations, which provide the
manner in which teachers are to be promoted.
“The union hereby calls for data on all
teachers who have not received their deserved promotions, in order to hold the Commission accountable for the failure to follow its own Regulations in promoting teachers.” The statement read in part.
The Union has reportedly urged teachers to circulate the survey tool in the enclosed link address among members and sensitise them to provide the information by Monday 16 January 2023.
“The information gathered will be treated with absolute confidentiality.” The letter assured.
