According to Pulse Ghana statement, law enforcement agencies, two suspects and two more women – 30-year-old Favor Bright. Peace Alikoi, 40, were known to run a children’s factory.

The arrest reportedly came after Rivers Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Grace Irinj-Koko was tipped off.

The police commissioner said in a statement that the four suspects were employed by the local governments of the Obio and Akpor and Ikwerre districts before their arrest in the villages of Igvuruta and Omagwa, where victims of child trafficking are being held.

“Ten victims were rescued during the operation, most of them pregnant,” police chief Iringe-Koko said in a statement.

She disclosed that the investigation showed that when the victim had a baby, the syndicate took it and paid 500,000 naira the mother, and that some of the home babies that were born earlier were sold, the reports.

The case has been referred to the National Criminal Investigation Agency (SCID) for further investigation and possible prosecution of the suspect.

Meanwhile, efforts are underway to track down and arrest the buyers of the children who have been trafficked to face trial for the crime.
