Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo DRC are said to be on the verge of open conflict.

According to Rashid Abdi, chief analyst sahan.global “another potentially catastrophic African conflict is gathering momentum.

In a statement on his Twitter post, Abdi says DR Congo’s Sukhoi-25 jet breaches Rwandan airspace, Rwandan missile misses it narrowly.

He adds that tensions between the two neighbouring countries is at dangerous level.

In a letter seen by the Nairobi Independent, from Rwanda Gov’t it reads:

“DRC Fighter Jet Violates Rwanda Airspace Kigali, 24 January 2023 Today at 5:03 pm, a Sukhoi-25 from the DR Congo violated Rwanda airspace for the third time. Defensive measures were taken. Rwanda asks the DRC to stop this aggression.”
