“She Might Run Us Out of Town” Junet Warns Wamuchomba Without Power Is a Threat

“She Might Run Us Out of Town” Junet Warns Wamuchomba Without Power Is a Threat

Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has raised eyebrows after warning that Githunguri legislator Gathoni Wamuchomba could pose an even greater political threat outside Parliament than within it.

Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly, Junet humorously suggested that Wamuchomba’s bold and confrontational style may not only jeopardize her re-election chances in 2027, but could also make her a force to reckon with if left without official power.

“If Wamuchomba loses in Githunguri — and by the way things look, she might — we should consider her for an ambassadorial role,” Junet remarked. “Let’s have six or seven career diplomats, and then top up with people like her. Otherwise, if she’s this strong while in office, imagine her out of it — she might run us all out of town.”

His comments drew immediate reaction from Wamuchomba, who stood her ground and dismissed Junet’s remarks as political intimidation. Demanding protection from what she called “bullying,” she questioned whether Junet had now taken up the role of a prophet.

“There’s no election this year or next. Has Junet become a prophet now?” she challenged. “And who said I’m even interested? This is about diplomatic appointments — not Wamuchomba. I’m the iron lady from Githunguri.”

Presiding MP Farah Maalim intervened to reassure Wamuchomba of her right to protection, clarifying that Junet’s comments were speculative in nature and not definitive.

Junet later defended his statements, reiterating that he meant no harm and was merely offering an alternative path should Wamuchomba’s political alliances, particularly with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, fail to secure her future.

“I was lobbying for her in case the Wamunyoro bus gets punctured,” he said. “I just want to give her a soft landing — something like an ambassadorial post for Githunguri.”

He ended on a lighter note, reaffirming his belief that Wamuchomba’s fierce political style might be even more unpredictable without the boundaries of office.

“She’s a firebrand. If this is Wamuchomba with power, I shudder to think what she’d be like without it,” he said. “We need to keep her close — maybe even give her a title — before she runs us all out of town.”
