Salasya’s 2027 Ticket with Kang’ata Draws Laughter in Murang’a
Mumias East MP Peter Salasya left Murang’a in stitches after he named Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election.
While addressing the public, Salasya said he and Kang’ata are among the few leaders who can solve Kenya’s problems. He pointed out that despite serving less than a full term, their records prove they can.
“When I become president, you’ll be my deputy and Babu Owino will be a governor. Then we move forward,” Salasya said. He took a swipe at current leaders for underperforming, assuring Kenyans his team will ensure a smooth transition. He also promised to respect outgoing leaders and provide them with security once he takes office.
“In my five years as MP and the work Irungu has done, it’s clear we are the solution. Others can’t match us. We’ll respect them, provide security—but the presidency is ours,” he said.
Salasya also asked Kang’ata and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino who was present to join him in forming a new political alliance to save the country. He claimed the three of them know the real issues affecting Kenyans especially the grievances voiced during recent Gen Z protests.
“You understand where the problem is; I know it too; Babu knows it as well. Let’s unite, create one front and win together,” he urged.
Launching His Presidential Campaign
This comes days after Salasya announced plans for a three-month national tour to drum up support for his 2027 presidential bid.
In a statement released on June 28, 2025, Salasya said he will start the tour on July 2 and visit every village, county and street.
“Round Two begins this Wednesday, July 2. We’re going full throttle for 90 days nonstop. Peter Kalerwa Salasya the 6th will be everywhere—every county, every village, every street,” he declared.
He also castigated long serving politicians, accusing them of failing the country. According to Salasya, these leaders only connect with citizens when out of office and neglect their concerns once elected.
“We’ve trusted veteran politicians and they’ve failed us time and again. They only speak for the people when seeking votes. Once elected they become barriers to progress,” he said.“Kenya needs bold, people-centred leadership. New beginning. I am Peter Kalerwa Salasya the 6th. Now. Now. Now.”
