Peter Munya Debunks Viral AI Photo with President Ruto at State House
Party of National Unity (PNU) leader Peter Munya has publicly dismissed a viral photo circulating on social media showing him supposedly with President William Ruto at State House.
Speaking on Monday, February 23 night, Munya flagged the photo as fake, questioning its authenticity.
“Someone can be in two places at the same time?” Munya posed, highlighting the implausibility of the image.
Allies of the PNU leader have also criticized the AI-generated photo, accusing the government side of desperation. Chege Majuice, a close ally, remarked:
“How desperate can Ruto be? Yesterday, Ruto’s people were claiming that he was with Peter Munya at State House, yet he was in Kisii, saying one term.”
Indeed, on Monday, the former Meru Governor joined United Opposition leaders, led by Fred Matiang’i, for a three-day tour of Kisii and Nyamira counties. During the tour, opposition leaders made several stops to popularize their political agenda ahead of upcoming elections.
The timing of the viral photo comes shortly after the Jubilee Party announced a cooperation deal with PNU. On Wednesday, February 18, Matiang’i held a meeting with Munya and other PNU officials, agreeing that the two parties would formally collaborate.
As part of this agreement, PNU has decided not to field a presidential candidate in the 2027 General Election, instead endorsing Matiang’i as their chosen nominee. Jubilee stated:
“PNU has endorsed Dr. Fred Matiang’i as its presidential candidate for the 2027 General Election. Matiang’i represents discipline in public service, courage in decision-making, and a track record of results in education reform, security coordination, and public administration.”
The former ruling party added that the partnership with PNU reflects a shared commitment to rescue the economy, restore dignity to public institutions, empower young people, and return honesty to government.
Political analysts say this alliance could reshape the opposition landscape ahead of the 2027 elections, presenting a united front against the government while addressing key national concerns.
