Oga Obinna Ends Interview After Question Over Mulamwah Feud

Oga Obinna Ends Interview After Question Over Mulamwah Feud

Media personality Steve Thompson Maghana, popularly known as Oga Obinna, abruptly exited a live radio interview on Friday, April 25, 2025, following a heated exchange regarding his ongoing conflict with comedian David Oyando, widely known as Mulamwah.

Initially, Obinna appeared upbeat as he entered the studio for the scheduled segment. However, the atmosphere quickly shifted when the host declined his request to avoid discussing the recent fallout with Mulamwah.

Tension escalated after the presenter referenced online speculation, alleging that Obinna had leveraged Mulamwah’s rising popularity for content on his own show. The host suggested that Obinna frequently jumped on trending personalities to attract attention.

“People say you always cling onto popular stories. As soon as someone trends, you latch on. What exactly is your issue with Mulamwah?” the host probed.

Visibly unsettled, Obinna issued a firm warning, stating he would not tolerate any mention of Mulamwah during the interview. He emphasized that he preferred the discussion to focus on substantive topics and influential figures.

“I don’t want to talk about that story right now. Let’s talk about important things and important people. I’m not here to backbite anyone,” he asserted.

The presenter, however, responded with a pointed question—asking whether that meant Mulamwah was not important. The exchange quickly spiralled into confrontation.

Obinna, growing increasingly agitated, accused Mulamwah of being a bully who had previously insulted other media figures. He also addressed a past controversy involving Mulamwah’s young son, clarifying that he was not responsible for any offensive remarks aired on his show.

“People twist my words. He’s a bully. Isn’t he the same person who insulted Kamene and others? Now he’s angry because his son was mentioned? I didn’t even say anything about the child,” Obinna explained.

Despite his objections, the host persisted with the topic. At that point, Obinna stood up, thanked the DJ, and instructed his bodyguard, Vicker Munene, to escort him out of the studio, effectively ending the interview.

Origins of the Conflict

The rift between Obinna and Mulamwah first became public on Thursday, April 24, 2025, with both entertainers trading jabs on social media. What began as mild banter quickly escalated into a bitter exchange that captured widespread public attention.

Obinna initially revealed that he had been blocked by Mulamwah on Instagram and was therefore unaware of the latter’s recent comedy event. Speaking on K24 TV on April 23, he explained that he only learned of the show through social media and received no personal invitation.

“I was not invited. I was also involved in the Content Creators and Wasanii charity match. Personally, I have no issue with Mulamwah, although I realised on the day of the event that he had blocked me,” he said.

Mulamwah’s Response

In response, Mulamwah posted a video on Instagram featuring a previous episode of The Weekly Show, where Obinna and co-host Dem Wa Facebook discussed a fan’s comment concerning Mulamwah’s son. Mulamwah expressed displeasure over the segment and implied that the incident was the root of their conflict.

“The one who defecated on the road forgets, but the one who stepped on it never forgets. You had your moment here,” he wrote in Swahili.

Mulamwah later posted another video directly criticising Obinna’s personality. He accused him of inserting himself into every major entertainment conversation and dominating the spotlight.

“You always want to be the centre of attention. A wedding happens—you want in. A show is announced—you want to lead it. Let others have their moment,” Mulamwah remarked.

He also clarified that his comedy event had been open to the public, including Obinna. A personal invitation, he said, was unnecessary, as anyone could have purchased a ticket and attended.
