National Uproar After Govt Spokesperson Accuses Malala of Trespassing Girls’ Dorms

National Uproar After Govt Spokesperson Accuses Malala of Trespassing Girls’ Dorms

Deputy Government Spokesperson Mwanaisha Chidzuga has stirred widespread debate online following claims involving former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala. Chidzuga alleged that Malala attempted to gain access to the dormitories at Kirobon Girls High School under questionable circumstances.

According to Chidzuga, the former senator was intercepted by law enforcement officers, who prevented him from trespassing into the school premises. She stated that Malala allegedly posed as a playwright to gain entry to the school at an unauthorized hour.

“As a government, we have no issue with the students or their participation in drama festivals,” she said. “We support their talent development. However, we took issue with the playwright, who intended to conduct rehearsals with the students outside the legally permitted time. Outsiders may only access schools between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. What was he doing there late in the evening at a girls’ school? Why hadn’t he trained them earlier in the week? Was he putting our children at risk?” Chidzuga posed.

Her remarks have triggered significant backlash online, with many Kenyans accusing her of promoting a misleading narrative. Critics argued that the spokesperson’s comments were designed to shield the government from criticism while casting unsubstantiated aspersions on Malala.

Chidzuga was accused of implying criminal intent without offering concrete evidence. Some critics condemned her for allegedly weaponizing gender to malign the former senator and for using propaganda to counter growing public support for him.

“This is deeply disturbing,” said Carie Enimwa. “You are sexualizing a drama festival involving minors. It’s heartbreaking to see a woman reduce such a situation to something so vile.”

Chima Nanyu echoed similar sentiments, warning of the broader implications of Chidzuga’s claims. “You’ve handed ammunition to those who doubt real victims of sexual assault. They will cite this as an example. You have failed all women,” she stated.

The controversy continues to unfold, with public opinion sharply divided and calls growing for accountability in official communication.
