Nandi MCA Julius Keter Passes Away After Short Illness
Nandi County Assembly Speaker, Philemon Melly, has announced the passing of Chemundu/Kapng’etuny Ward Representative, Hon. Keter, who had been unwell for the past three weeks.
Hon. Keter passed away on Saturday morning at approximately 8:30 a.m. while receiving treatment at Fountain Hospital in Eldoret.
He was first elected as the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Chemundu/Kapng’etuny in 2022 on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket. He also served as the Assembly’s Majority Whip.
Speaker Melly mourned Keter as a dedicated public servant whose legacy will endure.
“Keter has been unwell for the last three weeks. He sadly lost the battle at Fountain Hospital Eldoret,” he said.
He described Keter as a legend and a true servant of the people, adding, “His tireless work, unwavering commitment, and genuine love for the community will be cherished.”
Nandi Governor Stephen Sang also expressed his condolences to the family and residents of Chemundu/Kapng’etuny.
“Keter was not just a colleague but a friend and a true servant of the people. His humility, thoughtful leadership, and dedication to uplifting his constituents will be deeply missed,” the Governor stated.
Governor Sang praised Keter’s strong voice in the assembly and his consistent advocacy for development within the ward.
Residents of Chemundu/Kapng’etuny expressed profound sorrow over the loss. Many remembered him as a generous and hardworking leader who was always accessible and responsive.
A number of local youths highlighted Keter’s commitment to addressing their concerns and applauded him for initiating transformative programs aimed at improving lives.
His untimely death now contributes to the growing list of by-elections pending oversight by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
