Mystery Deepens as Gen Ogolla Crash Survivor Karanja Mogire Shows Up at Ruto Event

Mystery Deepens as Gen Ogolla Crash Survivor Karanja Mogire Shows Up at Ruto Event

Frankford Karanja Mogire, a photographer with the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), recently made his first public appearance a year after surviving a deadly helicopter crash.

The crash tragically claimed the life of General Francis Ogolla, Kenya’s former Chief of Defence Forces (CDF). Mogire’s return to work has sparked significant conversation, especially after he was pictured alongside President William Ruto.

The photo, shared by President Ruto, showed Mogire in action, photographing the president during a routine ceremony at the Lanet Regional Hospital in Nakuru County. In the image, Mogire was dressed in a sharp suit and equipped with two cameras—one in his hands and another strapped to his side. The event was part of a KDF function, which is typically documented by the forces’ official photographers.

This seemingly ordinary image quickly stirred online debates. Some Kenyans, noticing the coincidence, questioned why Mogire was seen with the president. One online user remarked, “Cameraman is the guy who survived the plane crash that was carrying CDF Ogolla. I said if you still believe in coincidences, then you are not paying attention…”

While the reaction was mixed, many others understood the context of Mogire’s appearance. As a KDF photographer, one of his core duties is to document events involving the military, including those presided over by the president.

Given that the ceremony was related to the KDF, it was entirely expected that Mogire would be there to capture the moment.

Mogire’s story is a deeply personal one. A graduate of Mount Kenya University, very little is publicly known about his life outside of his professional role with the KDF.

However, what stands out is his remarkable survival. Many Kenyans were genuinely relieved to see him back at work, fully recovered from the crash.

The tragic helicopter crash, which occurred on April 18, 2024, took place in Sindar village, Elgeyo Marakwet County.

The helicopter, carrying several high-ranking KDF officers, suffered a devastating engine malfunction mid-flight, resulting in a total loss of power. General Ogolla and nine others tragically lost their lives that day.

Mogire, though physically affected by the incident, managed to survive the crash. His recovery, both physically and emotionally, has been a topic of great interest and admiration. Many Kenyans took to social media to express their gratitude for his survival. One comment read, “KDF photographer Frankford Mogire, one of the survivors of the KDF helicopter crash that claimed the life of General Francis Ogolla, is back to work. We thank God who spared his life.”

Mogire’s resilience and determination to return to his professional duties have been an inspiration to many.

His appearance alongside President Ruto, far from being a coincidence, was a reflection of his ongoing role in documenting military events. For those who understand the nature of his work, his presence at such a significant event is entirely fitting.

The tragedy that claimed General Ogolla’s life left a deep impact on the KDF and the nation as a whole. Yet, Mogire’s survival and return to his role offer a sense of hope and renewal. His story serves as a testament to the strength of the human spirit, as well as the importance of resilience in the face of adversity.

While the debate surrounding his appearance with President Ruto may continue to circulate, Mogire’s dedication to his work remains undeniable.

His recovery, both personal and professional, is a reminder of the power of perseverance and the significance of every life that is spared.

The tragic accident may have taken many lives, but it also brought to light the stories of those who survived and continue to move forward.
