MP Salasya Raises 9 Unanswered Questions on Mysterious Death of Albert Ojwang in Police Hands
Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has written to the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration Kipchumba Murkomen demanding accountability and transparency following the controversial death of Albert Ojwang while in police custody.
In a letter under Standing Order 42A of the National Assembly Standing Orders, Salasya submitted nine questions to the Cabinet Secretary.
This comes as public concern grows over a series of events surrounding Ojwang’s arrest, detention and death.
Sharing the statement on X on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, Salasya outlined key issues and areas that need clarification.
These include the reasons for Ojwang’s arrest and transfer, conditions of his confinement, access to medical care, identity and conduct of medical personnel involved, handling of his body, and transparency of post-m
ortem process.
He also raised issues on evidence preservation, witness protection and long term reforms for police accountability.

Meanwhile IPOA has launched its own investigation into the matter. IPOA Chairperson Issack Hassan spoke to the press on Monday, June 9, 2025 at Central Police Station. He said a team had already been deployed to the scene.
“Our mandate is to uphold the rule of law and shield citizens from any form of police abuse,” Hassan stated. “We shall leave no stone unturned in uncovering the circumstances that led to Mr. Ojwang’s death and ensuring that justice is served.”
