Cabinet Secretary for Education Ezekiel Machogu has earlier today met a section of leaders from Igembe region led by the Meru county Deputy Governor Isaac Mutuma, when they paid him a courtesy call at Jogoo House.

CS commended the community for pushing to have Igembe Campus be chartered and promised that the directive President William Ruto will be actualized as the Government seeks to have sustainable institutions of Higher learning.

The CS hinted at the Government reduction of funds to public university.

“I urge the leaders to come up with sustainable strategies that will ensure very little dependants on Government funding as public universities debts now hit over Kshs. 56B.” Said Ezekiel Machogu.

“It is now time to have a conversation with the parliamentary committee on Education to seek a solution concerning the huge debts which is frustrating the efforts of our public universities to sustain their operations,” He added.

PSs for University Education and Research, Dr.Beatrice Inyangala and @VTTMoE, Dr.Esther Muoria were also present at the meeting.
