Githurai 45 Woman Found Dead After Foul Smell Fills Residential Plot
Residents of Githurai 45 are struggling to come to terms with a disturbing discovery after a woman was found dead inside her bedroom days after she was last seen alive.
The tragic incident unfolded on Friday, February 20, when neighbours woke up to a persistent foul smell that lingered across the plot despite repeated cleaning efforts.
According to residents, the odour was so strong that they initially suspected a dead animal inside the building. However, what they uncovered was far more heartbreaking.
Neighbour Narrates How the Discovery Happened
Speaking to Paxson TV, a neighbour identified as Wamaitha explained how concern slowly grew among tenants in the compound.
“After cleaning up and noting no change, we called the landlord because the foul smell was coming from her house. The landlord came, and her house was opened. it was when we discovered Monica was dead,” the neighbour said.
Wamaitha revealed that it had been two days since anyone had seen or heard from Monica, raising quiet concern even before the smell intensified.
“She was a nice person who left daily and came back. But yesterday, we started wondering where she was because we had not seen her for two days. Her phone was also off, which was odd, as she was a woman who liked being active online,” Wamaitha added.
Neighbours described Monica as friendly and active, making her sudden disappearance unusual.
Injuries Spark Fears of Foul Play
While the official cause of death has not yet been established, neighbours claimed they noticed visible injuries on her body, particularly around the face.
Wamaitha stated that the injuries appeared as though she had been struck with or against something, though authorities are expected to confirm the exact circumstances following investigations.
The residents further claimed that several visitors had been seen at her house in recent days, with speculation emerging that one of them may have harmed her.
“She did not have a husband, and we had several male visitors come into her house. I would advise everyone to be careful who they allow into their house, especially in the wake of high insecurity in the country,” she added.
Shock and Fear Grip Githurai 45
The discovery has sent shockwaves through Githurai 45, a densely populated residential area where tenants often live in close proximity.
Residents admitted they never imagined something so tragic could happen just a few doors away. Many are now questioning security within rental plots and the need for heightened vigilance.
The incident has also reignited conversations about safety in residential estates, particularly concerning unfamiliar visitors and the importance of checking in on neighbours when unusual circumstances arise.
Police Investigation Expected
Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation, including a postmortem examination, to determine the exact cause of death.
As investigations continue, residents remain anxious but hopeful that clarity and justice will follow.
