The former Garissa township Mp Hon. Aden Duale has commented on the UDA win a Garissa township Mp by-election.

His remarks comes shortly after the Returning officer for Garissa Township Constituency by-election Abdi Yunis Mohamed declared Barrow Dekow Mohamed of UDA party duly elected Garissa Township Member of National Assembly (MNA) after garnering 11,572 followed closely by Nassir Dolal of UDM party got 8,158 votes who finish second with NARC Kenya’s Ibrahim Malow third with 840 votes.

A total of 21,218 votes were reportedly casted representing 39.84 percent voter turnout, according to IEBC.

Taking to his Twitter page, Duale wrote: “Thank you the faithful People of Garissa Township, formerly Dujis Constituency, who have in my days of active politics, elected me four times on National Political Parties, starting with ODM, through to URP, then Jubilee and in the last elections, UDA.

Today, I had the opportunity, for the first time in over 20 years, to vote for another candidate to take over the mantle of leadership and spearhead the projects & progress I had made both in terms of development and peaceful coexistence of communities forming the GT Constituency.

I have represented them ably in the legislature as a lawmaker and in oversight roles. It is their vote and prayers that made me serve as the Deputy Minister of Livestock, Majority Leader and now, CS – Ministry of Defence.

Tonight, all indications are that Victory is for the UDA candidate Rtd Major Mohamed BARROW Dekow. The people of Garissa Township have again said NO to politics of division, local parties that belong to the kraals.

Hongera Major Dekow, the incoming MP. Hongera UDA.

We have another new MP, making us the majority in the National Assembly.

Thank you the people of Garissa Township for the seamless transition and an end to clan politics.

Now, wheel the BARROW!”
