The President of Kenya Dr William Ruto has made a new appointment to state owned enterprises.

In a Gazette notice dated January 19, 2023, President Ruto appointed philip Mongoni as Chairman of the Public Enterprises Advisory Board for a three-year term.

Ruto also appointed Fatma Bakari Barayan as non-executive chairman of the board of directors of the Young Enterprise Development Fund for a period of three years.

The head of state also canceled several appointments of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Ruto canceled the appointment of Agnes Pareio, who had been appointed Chairperson of the Committee against Female Genital Mutilation, to be replaced by Surum Ipato Korema for a six-year term.

At the same time, Transport Minister Kipchumba Moorkomen withdrew the appointments of Lydia Yator, Stepehen Gichohi, Conrad Thorp, Farida Sood and Nilfat Kassim Ali as directors of the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).

Instead, CS appointed Musa Osman, Emmanuel Kibet, Consolata Lusweti and Lucas Mathe.
