Four suspects were detained, consignments of alcoholic beverages with counterfeit KRA brands were seized, DCI says.
In a statement on its Twitter post, DCI says Steven Ngugi, Amos Maina, James Nyaga and George Kariuki were arrested during an operation by a multi-agency team of KRA detectives and agents in Kiambaa, Kiambu District.
Counterfeit KRA stamp rolls, distillation equipment and chemicals used to make counterfeit alcoholic beverages were seized.
Bottles of counterfeit alcoholic products were also found, including the popular Trace Vodka and Chrome Vodka.
The raid follows a recent order by His Excellency President William Ruto of the police to conduct an intelligence operation on counterfeit goods after it was discovered that fraudulent businessmen were developing tax evasion schemes.
