Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP), Babu Owino, has called for an immediate, thorough, and transparent investigation into the sudden and mysterious death of Joel Munuve, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Kariobangi North.
In his public statement, the vocal legislator expressed serious concerns about the possibility of foul play in Munuve’s untimely death. He emphasized the need for a detailed and impartial inquiry to ensure that the truth is revealed.

The MCA tragically passed away on Tuesday, April 22, after collapsing while en route to a private hospital along Kiambu Road. At first, it was reported that Munuve had died while undergoing medical treatment at the facility.
However, new information has emerged, as Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai, a close friend of Munuve, clarified that the late MCA never made it inside the hospital.
According to Alai, Munuve had complained of chest pains after being picked up from his residence by a longtime friend, identified only as Peter. “Munuve typically traveled in either his own car or his friend’s vehicle, but on this particular day, he fell ill and tragically passed away right in front of the hospital,” Alai explained. Alai, who had often walked alongside Munuve to the assembly and described him as his closest companion, expressed his profound grief, noting that the loss was deeply personal for him.
The official confirmation of Munuve’s death came from the Nairobi County Assembly Speaker, Kennedy Ngondi, who expressed shock at the untimely passing of the MCA.
Ngondi stated that the assembly had not been made aware of any illness or pre-existing medical condition that could have led to Munuve’s sudden collapse.
He further acknowledged that Munuve was more than just a colleague to him, describing him as a passionate leader whose presence and contributions had greatly enriched the work of the assembly.
