Another Shakahola? Two Dead and 57 Rescued from Mysterious Church in Rongo, Migori County

Another Shakahola? Two Dead and 57 Rescued from Mysterious Church in Rongo, Migori County

In a startling turn of events, detectives are now stationed at a church in Rongo, Migori County, after two congregants were found dead and 57 others were rescued from the compound.

The chilling incident has raised alarm and prompted an intense investigation into the church’s activities.

On Monday, April 21, 2025, police were horrified to discover a body lying in a prayer room within the church in Kanyadiedo sub-location, East Kamagambo.

The body, wrapped in a white robe and grey sheet, showed disturbing signs of trauma, with injuries to the face and foam oozing from the mouth. Tragically, earlier in the day, another body was discovered at the same location.

The bodies were swiftly removed and transported to the local morgue as police began piecing together the mysterious events. But the shock did not end there. During a search of the church, officers rescued 57 people, many of whom were in a weakened state.

These individuals were taken to Rongo Sub-County Hospital for medical attention—but shockingly, they refused to be treated. Instead, they began chanting religious songs, acting in a way that baffled the medical staff.

The situation grew more alarming as the group’s behavior escalated. Unable to contain the disturbances they caused, hospital staff advised police to remove the group from the facility, as they were disturbing other patients.

The 57 individuals were then detained at a local police station while authorities debated their next course of action.

This is not the first unsettling incident to strike the area. Just weeks earlier, a police officer believed to have been radicalized was buried at a church compound in Kamagambo, Migori County, sparking widespread fear about the growing influence of occult practices in the region.

The officer, identified as Obura, fell ill at home and was taken by his wife to a church in Opapo village. He died on the way, and despite his death, his body was hastily buried at the church the following day—an action that raised serious questions.

Family members of the deceased officer had already raised alarms about the church, alleging that their loved one had been manipulated and radicalized by its teachings. Despite their warnings, the authorities failed to take swift action, and the disturbing events have continued to unfold.

Now, police are actively investigating both incidents, with growing concerns that occultism is at the heart of these tragic events. The church’s leadership has yet to comment, but the shocking series of occurrences has left the community in fear and disbelief.
