A suspect in the violent robbery was apprehended last night and a weapon allegedly used in the robbery was seized.
The suspect was apprehended after detectives on a different assignment found a suspicious car with additional license plates attached to it in the village of Nyahururu.
After a thorough search of a white Toyota Noah, detectives found a primitive handgun, six cell phones, various items in a gun bag, and clothing belonging to a woman believed to be the burglar’s victim.
When Operational Support detectives cross-checked the records with their DCI Laikipia counterparts, the car disappeared from view after participating in various robberies in Nyahururu, Ol-joro-orok, Nyandarua north, Olkalou, Subukia, Laikipia West, Kirima, Gilgil and Naivasha sub counties among others.
So far, four claimants have come forward and positively identified the arrested suspect, stating that he and his accomplice were still committing robberies in the area, mainly in Nairobi.
The suspect is currently at Olkalou Police Station, the allegations are being investigated and detectives are now stepping up their search for an accomplice who is on the run.
